Summary: Life sucks. And, as soon as Sidney picks up the pieces something always knocks her back onto her butt. It's never pretty, but this time is different. This time pretty isn't even the right word.
Peter is everything Sidney ever wanted in a man, but when things get hot and heavy Peter shows her the door. Sidney takes the walk of shame and leaves. It's the end of the worst blind date ever. Her life couldn't possibly reach higher levels of suckage, but it does.
The next morning everything comes crashing down. The insanely hot guy from last night, the one that saw her half naked, is teaching at the front of the class room.
This summary intrigued me. Yes, it sounds pretty much like a fanfic - probably was, as most "new adult" books are these days - but I thought I'd give it a go.
I do not have good luck with "new adult" genre books. At all. This was so full of fail that I almost cried because I really wanted to read a well-written story that matched the summary.
In the first chapter, the main character, Sidney, (spelled as Sydney and Sidney in the first chapter because they couldn't decide?) alludes to a PTSD from physical abuse at the hand of a previous boyfriend. So upsetting that the mere touch of her blind date sends her spazzing out and bumping in to the waiter and knocking all of their food on the floor.
But then she walks out to the parking lot and within 2 minutes hits on this complete stranger that she finds hot and he magically does not cause her to spaz out. Every other boy up to this point has, as she mentions repeatedly.
At this point, I did not like Sidney aka Sydney at all. The UPS man arrived at my door with my Aveda shipment and that was more important that continuing this story... I decided that I really didn't want to finish the book - so flouncing. Which upsets me. I liked the summary and Peter had potential.
On a side note: Isn't the cover pretty though? And, why does it make me think of Edward Norton?
